WHITEWATER RAFTING IN CENTRAL OREGON:
Wow! Have we had fun whitewater rafting on the Deschutes River! There are half-day trips in Bend where you finish with a wet and wild ride through Big Eddy. Or you can travel north to Maupin and run the big water on the lower Deschutes. I'm still reeling from my trip down the Class 5 rapid, Oak Springs! If you want a peaceful, gentle afternoon, rent a canoe in Sunriver and just float while you soak up the sun.

Central Oregon offers a myriad of choices for boating and waterskiing. The favorite mountain lake destinations for boaters include Cultus Lake, Suttle Lake, Crescent Lake and Wickiup Reservoir. Many of the other mountain lakes are motorless (like North and South Twin Lakes) or the speed limit is very low and conducive only to trolling. The locals favorites for waterskiing are Prineville Reservoir and Lake Billy Chinook because the water is warmer and the days are hotter.
